It opens from Settings (⌘,), Profile tab, or with a click on your name at the bottom of the sidebar (Set up profile, while the profile is empty). The other tabs of Settings are Appearance, Board and Pro: see Appearance and board and Terza Torre Pro.

Every change saves itself as you type.

What it is for

The app looks at games from your point of view. With the profile:

  • My games, in the sidebar, gathers the games in which you play;
  • the result in the list is coloured by how it went for you;
  • the statistics talk about your games;
  • the explorer can count only your games, with Me as White or Me as Black;
  • the repertoire and the import compare your moves with the ones you chose;
  • This is me, in Game data and in search, uses your data.

Identity

First name, Last name, Title, FIDE ID and Country. To recognise you in games the app uses the name, the FIDE ID and the aliases: one of the three is enough. When you add or edit a game, This is me fills your side with this data.

The FIDE ID is written with digits only, and is never zero. Written any other way it recognises no games, and the tab says so: you are then recognised only by the name and the aliases.

Elo

Add an Elo for each list and rate of play you have: FIDE Standard, Rapid or Blitz, or Custom… for a national federation, a site or another rate of play. Each row has Elo type, Rate of play and Elo; ⊖ removes it. When you add a game, the rate of play you choose takes the Elo and its type from here.

These Elo ratings are also your Elo today in the statistics.

Aliases

The names you play under elsewhere: Add → chess.com, lichess.org or Custom… for another name you appear under in games. Each row has Platform and Username. The platform is only a reminder: the name is what counts.

Signing in to lichess

Beside a lichess alias is Sign in…. It opens, in a window over the app, the lichess page where you give permission: Terza Torre never sees your password. Signed in, your games import three times faster and in the import you also see your private studies. The app asks lichess only for permission to read your studies.

Once signed in, the row shows the sign-in mark and Sign out, which also removes the permission on lichess. If you sign in with an account that is not among the aliases, the app adds it. The same sign-in is done from the import window, and applies everywhere.

How it recognises your games

A game is yours if one of the two players has your FIDE ID, your name or one of the aliases. Of the name, the words count, in any order, regardless of capitals, accents and punctuation: “Rossi, Mario”, “ROSSI MARIO”, “Mario Rossi” and “Mario, Rossi” are all you. The order does not count because a PGN file does not say which word is the surname, and this holds for all players, not only for you. A nickname, written only with unaccented letters, digits, “_” and “-”, counts instead as it is, capitals aside: “rossi-mario” is not “mario-rossi”. All the cases, with examples, are in Player names.

When the profile has the FIDE ID and the player has one, only the ID counts: a namesake with a FIDE ID of their own is not you. A player without an ID is recognised by the name.

If a game of yours is not recognised, add here the name it appears under, as a Custom… alias; an online account can also be added from the import window, with Add to my profile.

Changing name, FIDE ID or aliases at once works out again which games are yours, throughout the archive.
