The explorer
What has been played from the position on the screen: the continuations, how they ended, and the games.
In the editor, on the right below the engine, the Explorer searches the archive for the position on the board, and answers again at every move. The games are yours: those you imported or wrote, not an outside database. The same explorer is in an opponent’s dossier, on their games.

Whose games
The menu beside the title chooses which games to count: All games, Me as White or Me as Black, that is the games in which you played with that colour, recognised from your profile. Without a profile the last two are off.
The four questions
Below the title you choose what to look for in the position on the screen:
- Position: the games that reached exactly this position, with the same side to move and the same castling rights, and the moves played from there.
- Structure: these pawns on these squares and no others, wherever the pieces are.
- Material: the same queens, rooks, bishops and knights for each side, wherever they stand; the pawns do not count.
- Imbalance: the same difference between White’s pieces and Black’s, whatever the rest. With equal material there is nothing to look for.
Material and imbalance must last at least two moves, or until the end of the game: that way the moment halfway through an exchange does not count.
While the position is still in the opening book, below the questions is its name with the ECO code.
The moves
With the Position question, the table gives every move played from there, in how many games and how they ended: White / Draw / Black over all games, Won / Drawn / Lost over yours. The most played moves first.
A game counts once per position: if it comes back to it, through a repetition, what counts is the move with which it left it the last time. That way the games of the moves add up to the games that went through there. A game that ended in that position, without having gone through it before, has no move to count. Games without a result count among the games, not in the bar.
With Me as White or Me as Black, a small square marks the moves of your repertoire, if the option Show repertoire signs in the notation of your games is on in Settings › Appearance.
Hovering over a row, a red arrow shows the move on the board. A click plays it: if it is the game’s move you go forward, otherwise a variation is born, as when you move a piece.
The other questions have no moves to suggest: they say how many games and how they ended.
The games
Below, up to 12 games: with all the games, first those with the highest Elo (the sum of the two), then the most recent; with yours, the most recent. A click opens the game in another window, on the first move where it answers the question.
Show full list brings all the games found into the list of the main window: it switches to All games, puts the explorer’s question in place of the current search, and from there the search can be edited, saved as a smart collection or put into a collection. The list’s number can differ from the explorer’s, because the list also counts the games that ended in that position.
In an opponent’s dossier
In an opponent’s dossier, under Explore their games, the explorer counts their games, with the colour they played them with, and the bar is read from their side: Their results. When it is their turn, beside each of their moves the You reply column gives your repertoire’s reply; hole if the repertoire has their move but not a reply of yours; not foreseen if their move is not in the repertoire. Show full list brings into the list their games with their colour, from that position.
When it waits
The explorer answers in a few milliseconds even on millions of games. After an interrupted import or compaction, while the app rebuilds the search blocks, it says Preparing the position index… and answers when it has finished.
Free and Pro
The Position question on your games (Me as White, Me as Black) is free. The other questions, the position over all games and Show full list belong to Pro.
