Select two or more games in the list and press ⌘I (File › Edit game data…), or right click → Edit game data…. The app asks you to confirm, and recommends making a backup of the archive first; then it reads the selection (on many games it takes a while, and can be cancelled) and opens the same Game data window, with the title Game data — N games.

What you see

A field that is the same in all the games shows its value. One that differs from game to game is empty, with Mixed in grey; in the menus, Mixed takes the place of None.

This is me is missing, and so are the New player, New tournament marks and so on, which concern a single game. The opening is not edited, as for one game.

What gets written

Only the fields you change, on all the selected games: the rest of each game stays as it was. The green mark beside a field reminds you that it has changed and will be written.

  • White and Black go by colour: an Elo written under White goes to White in every game.
  • Emptying a field empties it in all the games, even a Mixed field: written and deleted, it takes the green mark.
  • The Online and Team event switches, if the games do not agree, open off with Mixed beside them. They change only if you touch them, and then the new value goes to all of them. To mark games as online or over the board there is also right click → Mark as online or Mark as over the board, which is undone with ⌘Z.
  • The name of a colour can be changed only where the selected games have a single player there. If they all have the same FIDE ID, that player is renamed throughout the archive, as from a single game (see Changing a name); if they have none, the games move to the player with the name written, and no one is renamed. Writing the FIDE ID too, all the games move to that player, with the name written. With different players who have a FIDE ID the Name is off, and a line at the bottom says what to do.

Saving

Save works in the background, with the progress and Stop under Background work, at the bottom of the sidebar, when the games are many. At the end a report says how many games were updated; if you stopped, how many were not, too. Those already written stay written. The games’ moves are not touched.

It is not undone with ⌘Z: before a large change, a backup of the archive is the copy to go back to (see Archive health).

Free and Pro

One game at a time is free; several games together belong to Pro.
